DSM Licensing Center
Stamicarbon, the DSM Licensing Center, has been established as the licensing subsidiary of DSM in 1947. Well-experienced in technology licensing and the support of process operations and plant maintenance for almost 60 years, Stamicarbon has been able to gain a solid reputation for certainty and reliability.
Their list of references includes some 1,000 licenses to about 400 customers in more than 80 countries. They form the keystones of their claim of providing more value from intellectual property.
DSM´s products are used in a wide range of end-markets and applications, such as human and animal nutrition and health, personal care, pharmaceuticals, automotive and transport, coatings and paint, housing and electrics & electronics (E & E).
The activities of DSM are grouped into four clusters: Nutrition, Pharma, Performance Materials and Industrial Chemicals.
The Nutrition cluster comprises DSM Nutritional Products, DSM Food Specialties and DSM Special Products. The main customers are food, beverages, feed and flavor/fragrance companies across the world. The activities in this cluster are to a large extent based on DSM´s in-depth knowledge of biotechnology (including fermentation, genomics and biocatalysis), organic chemistry and formulation technologies and on the company´s broad application knowledge. DSM holds leading positions in the markets for ingredients for human and animal nutrition and health and personal care.
The Pharma cluster comprises the business groups DSM Pharmaceutical Products and DSM Anti-Infectives. DSM is one of the world´s leading independent suppliers to the pharmaceutical industry, with some 40% of today´s top-selling medicines in the world containing ingredients developed and produced by DSM.
- Performance Materials
The Performance Materials cluster comprises the business groups DSM Engineering Plastics (including the Dyneema business unit), DSM Resins and DSM Elastomers.
- Industrials Chemicals
The Industrial Chemicals cluster consists of DSM Fibre Intermediates, DSM Melamine and DSM Agro. These business groups produce chemicals in large-scale, capital-intensive production facilities.
Besides the state-of-the-art technologies Stamicarbon is actively licensing, Stamicarbon also explores licensing-in opportunities of suitable technologies to boost DSM´s internal innovation process.
